804555 Adam Steel & Wire Works Jailhouse Key This reproduction early 1900's Adam Steel & Wire Works jailhouse key is brass. William J. Adam founded Adam Steel and Wire Works in Joliet, Illinois. In 1905 Folger Adam entered the business and the company focused on high-security equipment. In 1929, as Southern Steel, they introduced the 2700 mechanical continual motion locking system at Rikers Island Penitentiary, New York, the largest steel-constructed jail in the country.
